Why Is Betnesol Injection Prescribed During Pregnancy?
Hi My name is Saroj and I am from India. I am 25 years old and pregnant and 37th week is going on. I am feeling all right and there is no labour as of now but surprisingly when I visited my gynae yesterday she suggested betnesol injection*1 mg*6 injection for 2 days. I am really worried as i am reading on internet about it. Please help
I would like to tell you that betnesol injection are given during pregnancy when chances of preterm labor is there and its given for the maturity of lungs of fetus by producing surfactant.
But in your case, you are already 37 weeks pregnant and by this time fetal lungs must have produced sufficient surfactant, so in my opinion you need not require betnesol.
I would advise you to discuss this with your gynec before taking injections and ask firmly whether its absolutely required or not.
Hope this answers your question and feel free to ask any of your further relevant questions.
