Why Is Cardioversion Necessary Before Going For Ablation?
hi: i have a-fib. i was ablated, which lasted 26 months. then i was cardioverted, which lasted 2 months. my cardiologist wants to do a cardioversion and then an ablation. i don t understand why i just don t get ablated first. also. how long do you have to wait between doing a cardioversion and an ablation? i also have hypertension which drugs don t control very well. i ve been on every class of meds but renin inhibitors. thanks. jeff

In other cases if its not revertable with medication then u can go for ablation directly.. alternativelh they can cardiovert you just before ablation and go ahead.. there is no fixed time interval recommanded between these 2...
