Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 1 month old has been in the hospital since she was born, she had to get surgery at 5 days old because of a block in her small intestine. I am current in Italy, and want to make sure she is getting the correct treatment for her recovery. She has been on an IV that feeds her and they are allowing me to also feed her 10ml of formula every 3 hours. They did blood work on her this morning and they just started her on magnesium sulfate, they said it was missing from her diet. What is the magnesium for? They also say that her recovery could take another 1 - 2 months?
Magnesium helps in nerve conductivity and the correct functioning of muscles.since she underwent recent surgery she might be losing from small intestine. so doctors are giving it. Dont worry correct treatment is given.
