Why Is My Doctor Changing Medicines For Catatonic Schizophrenia?
My son has been suffering from catanotic schnizopheria - he took Aripperarazole for 6 weeks, the result was partially good, the doc changed the medicine to resperidon which is continuing for last 2 month - the doc is planning to go for clozapine - Is it the right decision
I think, keep him on risperidone for sufficient time at least 12 weeks and try to escalate the dose up to 6 to 8 mg. If he does not get response at this dose, then shift to clozapine. Clozapine is last option among antipsychotic and after than alternative is ECT. Even, psychiatrist can plan ECT before clozapine. Rest, you can discuss with him. In case, you need further help, you can ask.
Thanks
