Why Is My Formula Fed Child Vomiting And Having A Foul Smelling Stools?
Hi,
My son is 4 months old and was breast fed up until about a month ago he is now on Formula. The past couple of days he has vomited at least 2 times a day and everything in his stomach. Yesterday he did it and he had green in it, he is throwing up sometimes 2 hours after he eats and has been doing it for a while but not all the time. He was on pedialyte since yesterday am and had normal poops last night and this morning he had a very fishy smelling watery poop. I switched his formula to enfamil (per his doctor) and after he drank 4 ounces of the formula he had a horendous bowel movement all water and fishy smelling. What should I do? Thank You
Hi Dear
welcome to the HCM.
Baby has developed stomach infection.
Till the child is on breast feed there are very less chances of stomach infection.
Now the top feed has started that too in the rainy season so symptoms of stomach infections have arrived.(Nothing to do with the formula brand).
Bottle hygiene is of utmost importance.
Hand to mouth hygiene to be taken care of.
stool culture and sensitivity to be done to know the exact cause of the problem. Stool culture will tell us the the exact bug involved and also the exact drug to be used for the eradication of infection.
Hydration of the child to be given much importance.
Hope the query is answered.
thanks
