Why Is My One Year Old Daughter Having Difficulty To Hold Things In Her Right Hand ?
Hi, My daughter is one year old and we have been observing that she has difficulty holding things in her right hand and she is not able to stand on her right heel but stand on toes. I was asked by a neurologist to go for MRI . I am concerned and confsed at the same time. Please help.

The weakness on one half of the body referred to as Hemiparesis is usually indicative of a problem in the brain, usually strokes like in the adult. Since there is difficult to stand on the heel could point to the fact that this problem has been long standing probably from birth. It could be due to a blocked artery in the brain, a tumour mass compressing structures in the brain or other reasons. By the MRI the Neurologist will be able to find out the cause for this and help treat the condition. I would like to point out that in such long standing cases, some drugs will help maybe as muscle relaxants to help her walk better and to prevent seizures, but Physiotherapy to strengthen the muscles is the most important. After the Diagnosis the Neurologist will explain the options available for treatment. Do have hope. This can be treated to work in the best for your daughter.

there is a chance of CP.
and what was the result of scan?
