Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
As per your complain and presentation of symptoms you are suffering from
BURNING MOUTH SYNDROME leading to inflammation and burnt feeling of tongue..
The cause of it seems to be due to
CITALOPRAM which has a tendency to cause
dry mouth and it inturns cause Burning and inflammation of mouth..
I would suggest you to consult your treating physician and get evaluated so that he can either reduce the medicine dose or switch you back to
Lexapro which was not causing you any problems..
As a supportive treatment you should gargle with a numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine to relieve discomfort especially during meals..
Gargle with
cold water and sucking ice cubes can reduce burning and inflammation..
Avoid hot and spicy food to prevent further irritation..
Drink plenty of water to prevent Dry mouth..
Chew sugar free chewing gum frequently as it will stimulate saliva flow as well as prevent dryness..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards..
