Why Is Simvastatin Advised To Be Taken At Night And Does It Cause Drowsiness?
I take Simvastatin at night. I missed my dose last night. It always says to take at night but then it says if you missed your dose take it upon knowing you missed it as long as it's not right before your next dose. Does it make you sleepy or why do you have to typically take it at night? Thanks

Short answer :This drug is to be taken at night preferably the right time is 10 pm.
It is not to give u sleep , but if taken at night at 10 , it reaches the blood level at its peak at 2am. So from 12 midnight to 6am in morning it lowers down cholesterol and triglycerides, keeping them controlled too, and this is the common time when statistics show that maximum strokes of heart and brain occur at this time
So one is prevented from a major stroke, a heart attack , if taken at 10pm. If you miss a dose for a day it doesnot matter because already, your cholesterol and triglycerides may have been under control with previous doses which you might be taking from months. I hope this answers your question
