hello Dr. i have question i had make operation for CSF before one month i was ok but after month from operation the flued still leake really iam worry what i do

1. I assume that you have undergone an operation for the repair of CSF leak through your nose. Please provide exact details. Was it a traumatic or spontaneous CSF leak?

2. If it was a nasal CSF leak, then some amount of nasal discharge is normal. The healing period is four to six weeks.

3. Was a lumbar drain inserted in the first few post-op days?

4. You should get the fluid collected in a sterile container and tested is you suspect that it is still CSF. Get a Beta-2 Transferrin test on the fluid, if available.

5. A simple test is the 'Handerchief Test': Normal nasal secretions contain mucus which will stain and stiffen a soft handkerchief on drying, but CSF will not.

6. If CSF leak is suspected, a CT cisternography and MRI with contrast should be done. Spontaneous leaks may be multiple.

7. If you have confirmed CSF rhinorrhea, then an endoscopic repair through the nose or an open approach (craniotomy) will be possible with fat, cartilage, fascia and fibrin glue.

hi kindly mention which operation you have undergone.still csf is leaking kindly consult surgeon because this is not a healthy sign.
