Dear patient
Your weight loss has direct effect on results of hernia and reflux surgery. Obesity is associated with fat deposition in muscles and tissues which makes it less tough. Also due to fat deposit less blood reaches skin and muscles. Obesity leads to constipation and increased intra abdominal pressure which is the reason for hernia and reflux. So to decrease wound complications and improve the results of surgery weight loss is must. Believe your doctors they think more about your health.
