Why Should Progesterone Intake Be Avoided While Having A Contraceptive Implant?

Is there a medical reason why you should not take the progesterone only pill whilst having the implant in? Doctor originally prescribed for non-stop implant bleeding, after 6 months recommended I stopped taking to see if the implant had settled. Hasn t, back to non-stop bleeding. Is it ok to go on the progesterone only pill and implant together indefinitely? Thankyou!

Hi,
Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
If you have continuous bleeding with implant.. not settled with a fair trial for 6 months. you should stop using it rather than loading with same drug contraceptive.
- If mini pill suits you sstart using it alone...
- In case you are breast feeding.. use either IUD /barrier contraception till you are feeding &then switch over to combined oral pills.
Thanks.
