Why Should Be There A Time Gap Between Intake Of Carboplatin And Etoposide Phospate Repeatedly For Small Cell Lung CA?

Why is Carboplatin given on day one and Etoposide Phospate on day 1,2,3 for limited (contained with in L upper lobe and medialsinum) small cell lung CA and then there is a wait of just under 3 weeks to give this regime again? I am really wondering about the 3 week wait.

Hi,

The bone marrow has to be given time to grow back. The amount of chemotherapy that can be given is more if there are some lags.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
