i just came back from doctor for my 1st sonogram being 6wks pregnant with fibroids and doctor ordered hcg, beta subunit, qnt serum. what does that mean? I was already confirmed pregnant by a doctor at a clinic... does it mean that pregnancy is at risk?

Serum HCG levels above 2-5 mIU/mL is considered to be indicative of pregnancy. your doctor is getting serial HCG levels checked to make sure they are rising or doubling up within 48-72 hours to ensure a viable pregnancy . its a safeguard employed at clinic to ensure safe pregnancy as in your case fibroids being a risk factor early pregnancy loss( seen usually in sunmucous fibroids only) if its subserosal then not a cause of concern unless it is bigger than 5cm to cause complication to growing uterus. you may safely undergo the test.
regards
