Why Should Sun Exposure Be Avoided While On Mylan-Hydroxychloroquine?

I take Mylan-Hdyroxychloroquine 200 mg twice a day Monday to Friday and I notice there is a notice on the bottle indicating, Avoid Prolonged exposure to the sun or sun lamps. I do not use a sun lamp but I am in Flordia for the winter and exactly what do they mean when they indicate no sun exposure, please define for me.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

This medication can increase the risk of sun burn if there is prolonged or excessive exposure.

The use of a sunscreen would prevent/reduce any effects but if possible you should still try to reduce your exposure.

I hope this helps
