Why Steroids Treatment Is Not Recomended In The Coccidioidomycosis Cases?
in january i was diagnosed with coccidioimycosis in my lung. i had erithma nodosum on my legs, too. now my nodule in my lung diminushed to 1/3 of its initial size....but i started to cough and have nose congestion. CT scan test showed a sinusis. My cough diminushed considerable after an antibiotics.treatment but after a week and daily use of flonase....i started to cough againI want to know why steroids treatment is not recomended in the coccidioimycosis cases. thank you.
Thanks for your question on HCM. Steroids are known to cause immunosuppression. So patients on steroids are more prone to infection. They are also prone in flaring up of underlying infection. Coccoidiodomycosis is fungi. It is seen commonly with immunosuppressive diseases. So steroid will further deteriorate or flare up the infection which is already present in the body. Hence because of this reason steroids are not given in the treatment of coccoidiodomycosis infection.
