Hi, i had gone through your query and understood your concerns.

Glipizide XL is the extended release tablet. Normally the advantages of sustained-release tablets or capsules are that they can often be taken less frequently than instant-release formulations of the same drug, and that they keep steadier levels of the drug in the bloodstream.
Usually normal one is prescribed in divided doses, where as the extended release tablet in higher dose once daily tablet.

Coming to the blood glucose levels, with time the doses of the drugs prescribed initially may not be enough to reduce the sugar levels. Its normal to have higher levels of sugar in blood less often due. May be your physical activity or the type of diet on that particular day etc.,

But if this persists(HbA1C > 7%) then you have to discuss with your treating doctor regarding dosage of drugs.

Hope this guides you. For any other queries you can write to us. We will be happy to help you. Thank you.
