In general if a child is properly immunised for chicken pox, the disease does not occur, at least within a certain period of time. But it is not impossible altogether. Moreover, there are many viral infections that cause rashes with fever and this is more likely to be some other viral infection that your granddaughter is suffering from. If the rashes itch, better use Caladryl lotion (Calamine lotion) or any other moisturising lotion which is expected to give some relief. I hope that helps.
