Why There Is A Fast Heart Beat And Jolt Feeling During Sleep?
Hi I have had an ecg and the results came back fine with no problems, but at night when im falling asleep my heart beats really fast and my body jolts as if my body don't want me to fall asleep, I can take me between 15 minutes and an hour to fall asleep. why is this happening?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
This is a normal finding and nothing much to worry about it. It is due to some hormonal mechanism at the early phase of sleep and not at all a matter of concerns. You have already done an ECG and ruled out all possible cardiac problems and so no treatment is required.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain

Why There Is A Fast Heart Beat And Jolt Feeling During Sleep?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. I would like to tell you that palpitations after dinner can be because spicy food intake but evaluation for cardiac arrhythmia is important. It s recommended for you to get an ECG, echocardiography and a Holter (ambulatory ECG monitoring) for minimum 48 hours done and consult a physician. Hopefully this information will guide you properly. Kind regards.
