I am 52 and have a heavy period that lasted so far 25 days. I have been checked for cancer and it came back negative. My doctor tried pills and it slowed down the bleeding but did not stop it. He is now wanting to do a DNC with exploratory surgery. He is also suggestion where they go in and burn the lining of the uterus. Does this usually slow down heavy periods? Is this recommended over a hysterectomy? Does it even work TO SLOW DOWN HEAVY BLEEDING?
