Hello,
I am Athena, an 18 year old girl, and I need to lose fat and retain most muscle in 9 days for a holiday. Although this seems like a crash diet, I am hoping to detox for 2 days by eating 430 calories of vegetables and 70 calories of skim milk, then 7 days eating 1200 calories, low carb, (mostly vegetables, 100 calories of fruit, 400-500 calories of protein, e.g. egg/canned tuna, and skim milk).
I plan on exercising as usual, which is at least either 1 hour of cardio or weight training/day, + the occasional cycling, kickboxing and will do pilates/yoga as well. I usually walk for 30 minutes a day.
My question is... will i lose muscle mass during the detox? I've heard that muscle loss only kicks in 72 hours after fasting, though I'm eating 500 calories so not exactly fasting.
