Will Vyvanse Help Treat Binge Eating Disorder?

I have suffered with B.E.D. for over 5 years now. I have tried time and time again to resolve my issue on my own and been unsuccessful. I have been reading up a lot about Vyvanse which has been FDA approved to help with b.e.d. I recently moved and need to find a doctor. Should I go to a psychiatrist or primary family doctor?

General & Family Physician Dr. Aaron Branch's  Response
Hello,

You are right that Vyvanse can be using for binge eating disorder. This is not a condition that a family doctor would treat regularly, so they may not be comfortable with prescribing this medication, and instead refer you to a psychiatrist, so it might be a good idea to just go directly to a psychiatrist for this treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
