Will A Child With Erb S Palsy On Right Hand Able To Write With Same Hand?
hi doctor, My daughter now 3 years old had right hand erb palsy. Although she recovered well in 3 months. Use that hand fully, but she do most of the work from left hand. Her right hand is also slightly shorter than left. I need your advice, can she write with her right hand ? She is righty.
Yes, children' with Erb's palsy should take regular physiotherapy if they're having issues with movement and not being able to use the hand. Otherwise, it is always preferred to try to motivate her to use the hand for small activities to begin with and then ask her to write one line out of 3 lines with her right hand, that way she will put the hand to use and it will help her totally. Eventually, she might increase the use of the right hand as we frequently observe.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Jinela Desouza, Neonatologist
