Will Anxiety, Hangover Persist After Stopping Rum, Coke?
I was in Cancun for a whole week, drinking every day mostly rum and coke but plenty of pina coladas. I never drank to the point where I got drunk, only slightly buzzed. Not to mention I would lay out in the hot sun and hardly drank any water all week. I would drink tea in the morning and other sugary drinks throughout the day but not water. It's been about a week since I've been back from Cancun and I've been having anxiety to the point where I had to take a week off from work. Is it possible to have anxiety/hangover symptoms for this long after I stopped drinking for a week already? Thanks!
a week is not unusual at all for an alcohol withdrawal syndrome with anxiety being the MILDEST of the reactions. Prescription medications taken for a few days to ONE week might be quite helpful for this. If it is ONE episode of moderately over-drinking and NO other alcohol issues.. then... this doesn't really make a strong case for an alcohol problem, but cannot say without a long interview. On the other hand, the standard withdrawal syndrome occurs in non-alcoholics and is quite treatable.
