Hello, and I hope i can help you today.
Contrary to what you've heard, there are no ill effects to a developing fetus if you accidentally take birth control pills while pregnant. In addition, birth control pills do not cause
miscarriage, if anything, one of the kind of hormones in the pill,
progesterone, is actually used as a treatment to help prevent miscarriage. Furthermore, if you are taking the pill correctly, even if you do not use it for birth control, you will not get pregnant in the first case, unless you have a pill failure (1 in 200 women per year).
So, neither Yaz or
Beyaz (same drug but with
vitamins added) affects a
pregnancy in a negative way, and when you are ready to have a baby, you just stop taking it. The pill is out of your system within 2-3 days of stopping it, so there is also no risk of exposure to a fetus if you conceive the first cycle off birth control.
I hope I was able to answer your question today and that my advice was helpful.
Best wishes,
Dr. Brown
