Will Caffeine Damage The Tissue?

Hi. I m 37 and fairly fit (i need to do more cardio) and I had an aortic valve replacement almost a year ago. I have chosen the tissue valve because I can face the warfarin and I m sire that next time I might havr the TAVI instead. Now my question is: is caffeine (let s say a cup max 2 a day) of coffee could damage the tissue quicker? Other thing... I smoke a 2-3 sigarette a week... is definitely NOT a help for my valve... but is it going to influence the damage a lot. Thanx Antonio

hi
any thing in excess is not good.
both smoking & caffeine are not good for the heart, that too post AVR surgery.
caffiene has a tendency to increase the heart rate, which can hamper the cardiac oxygen demand, comparitively more in cardiac compromised states.
although biological tissue valves are more competent than the mechanical valves, the longevity of the valve depends once again on the lifestyle.
it is better to stop rather than taking the harmful effects of caffiene.
all the best
take care
