Will Delay In Taking Thyroxine Have An Effect On The Fetus?
my daughter was told to take thyroxine after 8 weeks into pregnancy. she ha two miscarriages before but was not told about a thyroxine defficiency. she is healthy and is 25 yrs old. will the lateness in taking thyroxine effect the child. has she got to control intake of calcium.

Mam/ Sir, if i understand your question correctly, your daughter is having hypothyroidism. Thyroid hormone is essential for fetal development. Thyroid hormone is especially required during first trimester of pregnancy. it is important for physical, mental (brain growth and development) and sexual development of fetus. Deficiency of thyroid hormone during pregnancy leads to a condition called cretinism in the new borns.
I am not sure if your daughter is already pregnant and did not take pills or she is planning to become pregnant.
