Will Effexor And Xanax Help In Overcoming Depression?
Hello my name is Rita and I have been dealing with depression for over 15 years (maybe 20) and I am not sure due to the fact that I can't remember because I self medicated and most of the years are lost due to that. Does it ever get better? I have been taking Effexor XR 150mg daily for about a year and before that it was paxil, depakote and another med that I don't really remember because that was over 10 years ago. I have been admitted twice to a hospital because of it, but to no avail. Oh I am now also taking xanax 1.0.

Self medication has worsened your issue and prolonged it. It is never too late to seek a psychiatrist and let them decide what is best for you. Some psychotherapy sessions some vocational and recreational therapies with a good psychiatrist consult would help.
