My daughter is 6 years old, born in october 2007, she had tubes inserted when she was 1 and a half in 2009, as soon as the came out in 2010 other tubes were inserted. When they finally came out late 2012, the doctors told us that the hole did not close, after 8 months of waiting for it to close on its own, the doctors recommended that we do a tympanoplasty to close it. The operation was successful and now her tympani membrane is hole free. During our last visit, the doctor advised that the tympanic membrane was very retracted, they put her on Nasonex for 3 months but the situation did not improve. Now, they are recommending that we take the tonsils and adenoids out and they also want to perform a eustachian tuboplasty with balloon dilation as well. The last procedure seems to be a very new one and I cannot find any evidence of it being performed on children. It seems to be a risky operation. Anxious to hear feedback.
