Will Fever, Chills And Fatigue Subside After Taking Sulfamethoxazole-TM DS With Advil?

I have been taking sulfamethoxazole-TM DS for 10 days. My RX was for 14 days (2 a day). Yesterday I developed stomach cramping and a feeling of weakness and fatigue. I also have a white coating on my tongue. I stopped taking the pill last night. I am running a low grade fever today with some chills and both are relieved by Advil. Could I have an intervening problem such as the flu? Am I being rash in discontinuing the sulfa drug? The doctors' office that prescribed the sulfa is not open on Fridays.

I am so sorry to hear about this persistent fever and chills even after taking sufamethoxazole for 10days already. With a 10 days treatment you should really start felling better and fever subsided already if this drug was very effective.my suspicion is that you may require a different antibiotic t get this condition addressed because sulfamethoxazole has been unable to do so for the past 10days and i do no think the additional 4days would make a big differnce.
