Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m so bloated , had a D&C today for a missed miscarriage. Is it from the iv fluids, from the surgery, or from not having eaten much all day? I had a small sandwich for dinner. Will this bloating continue? Is it just from my gastroparesis? Should I take my constipation meds tomorrow? Would that help? If I don t exercise which I can t now, the bloating i have a feeling will get a lot worse. I look 6 months pregnant now.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history D & C today for missed miscarriage, have bloating as if 6 months pregnant and have lots of questions regarding whether from IV fluids, not eating much, not exercising and whether to take the constipation medication or is due to gastroparesis. Since there is history of D & C today and then have bloating, I would think of the cause related to surgery. I would advise you the following: Get the X-ray of the abdomen in standing position to see if there is any obstruction and ultrasonography to see any collection. An opinion of a General Surgeon would help more. If this is not surgical then the gastroparesis and other contributory causes combine together can cause such a problem. Get the treatment as per the cause thus found and you will be fine.
