Will Having Uterus Cauterized After Having Tubes Tied Help With Painful Period? Is It Related To Graves Disease?
I have my tubes tied. I am 37, have had 3 kids vaginally. I have very painful periods. Cramps keep me up all night, its hard to move some days. I have been diagnosed with graves disease (last year) and was told that could be a reason for the pain, and heavy periods. I heard having my uterus cauterized would help with all of this. True?

Hi, Thanks for using HCM.
There is a condition known as post tubal ligation syndrome, which results in heavy painful periods may be caused by a hormonal imbalance, could be caused by adenomyosis (bought on by uterus muscle and tissue being damaged, effected by the TL surgery impairing the blood supply to areas of that organ/muscle) or a combination of both. Pain also can be caused by retro bleeding backing into the sealed fallopian tubes. Other causes for pain could be fibroid.
get examined by gynecologist and ultrasound examination helps in diagnosing condition. Treatment depends on condition. Uterine ablation is useful in some conditions. depending on degree of involvement of uterus, management varies.
Hope this helps you.
Regards
