My blood sugar was initially 178. Stupidly, I ve been ignoring it for the past couple of months and have not been taking my 2000 mg of Metformin a day. Finally wised up three days ago - checked my blood sugar and it was at 383. I ve gotten it down to 287 today by starting back on the Metformin and watching sugar intake. But now I m terrified I ll have a stroke or heart attack. Is 287 abnormally high?

Hello, Welcome to HCM, First thing i want to tell you is ignorance is very bad in health issues. If you had taken your medicines from beginning only, your sugar levels would not have been increased. Normal values of Fasting and post prandial blood sugar levels are Definitely 287 is quite high. But with one or two readings of high sugars, you won't get heart attack or stroke. Well controlled diabetes have less effects on our body organs. So.i strictly suggest you to take your medications and do your blood sugar tests at regular intervals. Also you do HbA1c test.It helps to know the long term control of sugars
