Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Will Hypertension Medicines Cause Any Side Effects?
I take Coreg, Micardis and Norvasc for hypertension. I also have ecopy (mostly PAC s and some PVC s). I also take Crestor and CoQ10. I read that there might be an interaction with Coreg and CoQ10. Is it because both Coreg and CoQ10 will lower blood pressure and this may cause a problem?
Yes, if taken together they may cause a very low blood pressure. Micardis when taken along with Norvasc may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure and heart rate. This may result in headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart beat. You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications. There is no documented harmful interaction between Coreg and CoQ10 hence it can be taken safely.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
