Will Ingesting Water Excessively Cause Urine Dilution With Marijuana Non Detection?
Greetings, I smoked marijuana regularly for the past couple months (2-3 times per day). I have abstained for the past 28 days and took a drug test for a job. I took a Quest Diagnostics drug test on the 28th day of abstaining and drank between a half gallon to gallon of water (from 7am to 12pm, the test was administered at 12pm) and was wondering the chances I may have diluted the urine. I took a multivitamin 2 hours previous and my urine did have a yellow tinge. I am a 30 year old male 5 5 and 190 lbs with a medium/fast metabolism. Would the drinking of water cause dilution and will they offer a retest if this is the case?
Marijuana typically stops showing up in the urine after about a week of abstinence. However, for heavy users, marijuana can show up in urine toxicology screens for up to several weeks to months. Marijuana is dissolved in the fat in the body, which can release it slowly over time. Drinking large amounts of water will have no effect on urine tests. The only way to ensure marijuana will not show up in your urine is to abstain from using marijuana.
Hope this helps.
