Will Intake Of Salt Tablets Result In Increased Fluid Retention?

I am taking Lasix 120 mg daily and metolazone 5 mg. twice a week Tues and Sat for fluid retention from congestive heart failure. My Sodium level is critical low and the Dr. wants to give me salt tablets. Will this make me retain even more fluid? I also have End stage COPD.

Hello,

Of course taking salt tablets can cause you to retain water because water follows salt.

Taking diuretics like lasix makes you to lose water and salts.

The only way to increase water in body is to take salts too.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
