Will Irregular Periods Lead To Polycyclic Ovaries?

Hi I am suffering from irregular periods after delivery as my baby is now 10 months . M having sometime heavy nd sometimes spotting just a week periods stop nd start again . M very worried about .done scan which results show I have polycyclic ovaries . Can u plz help me get normal as I was before . Thank you very much . Gurpreet kaur

Hi,

First line of treatment for menstrual abnormality in PCOS is Hormonal contraceptives. These generally regulate the cycle by preventing ovulation process. Other line may be to use progesterone only hormonal pills to induce periods due to secondary amenorrhea. In your case, as you are having a baby, therefore, hormonal contraceptive seems a better choice, as besides treating your period irregularity, it may also provide a spacing between the two deliveries.
