Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m trying to decide whether to continue taking medication for mild memory loss--I ve been taking it for a year. It is very expensive -- $1000 for a three month supply. I only pay $342 out of pocket--but I m headed for the doughnut hole. Is there any test to tell if it is doing any good? Could medication help or hurt?
Regular neuropsychiatric testing would be the only way to discern any significant improvement. Generally speaking, memory loss medications only help to prevent further memory loss but do not reverse it.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
