Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi... I m 27 years old and just started using Melmet 500 before one month back and taking it thrice a day, as docter consulted me cos i m trying for baby as i have completed 2 years for my marriage and my periods are even irregular. Kindly tell me if the intake of Melmet 500 has any adverse effect and even will it increase the weight?? Please suggest..
Melmet 500 is a great anti-diabetic medication, which increases insulin sensitivity. It has the benefit of promoting, at least to some degree, weight loss. I have not heard of any issues with Melmet regarding weight gain, although everyone's metabolism is different. It is at least possible but weight gain would not be a typical reaction to this medication. I suspect that perhaps another medication that you are using might be causing some of the weight gain more so than the Melmet.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
