Will My Thyroid Levels Increase After Stopping Medication?
Hi I am 29 Yrs old, anxious to conceive. My Thyroid levels are 4.5. My Doctor(Gynecological) has advised to take Thyronorm 50Mcg for 30Days to get the levels between 1-2.
Will my Thyroid levels increase beyond 4.5 once I stop the medicine i.e Thyronorm 50Mcg after certain period(advised by doc)?
Hi thanks for using Healthcaremagic your TSH value is in sub-clinical range. Not a complete Hypothyroid state.since you are planning for pregnancy it is better to keep the TSH around 1-2.It has got a positive effect.During pregnancy also you should continue but monitor the TSH.The requirement of thyroid hormone will beore during pregnancy.During lactation also we will continue the treatment.Afterwards it is the physicians call and he may stop treatment and watch the TSH levels. If the TSH levels are with in range you don't have to take the tablet. Usually we do a test called Anti-TPO,if this is elevated you will have to continue. If there is a palpable goitre, then also it's better to continue there is nothing like once you take Thyronorm will make you dependant to that.If your body have enough thyroid hormone then stopping Thyronorm won't raise the TSH thank you...
