Will Taking Methimazole For Overactive Thyroid Make Me Add Weight ?
yes I was sick and found out that i have an overactive thyroid. am taking Methimazole 20mg twice a day right now. my question is will that make me add weight? Because am begining to expreience increase in my weight from just taking the med for one month.
Well, if you develop hypothyroidism you may gain some weight. This is unlikely as your doctor will monitor your thyroid functions whilst you are on methimazole and that way they will adjust the medicines to keep your thyroid functions in normal limits. However, the weight you lost while having untreated hyperthyroidism is likely to come back
