Will Taking Zyrtec Or Allegra Everyday Produce Any Side Effect?

Is that ok if I take Zyrtec everyday? It has been months which I must take anti histamine like Zyrtec or Allegra once daily. If not my whole body itchy swollen red hives from top my scalp to my feet. I know I have some types of allergy but I don t know which ? Sometimes I try not to eat for the whole day just only water still I am itchy and scratching my skins all over. Been to many doctors and was told to use oral anti histamine. What concern me is there any side affect if I keep using it for long time. Thank you and appreciate you.

Hello,

The main active ingredient in Allegra is fexofenadine. The main active ingredient in Zyrtec is cetirizine.

Both of these drugs are antihistamines. Both Allegra and Zyrtec are effective in treating allergy symptoms and take a similar amount of time to start working.

Both of these medicines can be taken together for a longer period of time although Cetirizine may cause drowsiness even when taken alone.
