Will Taking Diclofenac For Osteoarthritis Cause Abnormal Functioning Of Kidney?
I was told by my internist that I need to stop taking Diclofenac Sodium 50mg tab because it is affecting my kidney function. My last blood test showed my kidney function was abnormal and that I now need to see a nephrologist. However, when I looked at the Consumer Medical information enclosed with my Diclofenac, there is no mention of this medication affecting your kidneys. Can any type of antiinflammatory medication affect your kidney function, and if so, why isn t it mentioned on the consumer medication info included with these medicines. By the way, I am taking Diclofenac for osteoarthritis. Thank you in advance, and I m hoping you can give me some answers.
HI Thanks for your query The use of Diclofenac may cause kidney problems in a small percentage of patients. So if you have abnormal kidney function tests you should not be taking diclofenac or any other NSAIDs. Hope this helps Good luck
