Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been taking Effexor for 10 years, I felt like it was not helping me any longer. I talked with my Dr. and she changed me to Lexapro 20 mg tablets once a day. I always took the Effexor in the evening. I am supposed to start the Lexapro today. I have read the prescribing sheet and there are so many side effects on the sheet that almost have me afraid to take the medicine. I am a 64 year old female with diabetes. Do you think my fears are warranted? Thanks
Lexapro contains escitalopram and it is very effective antidepressant. It is among one of the most commonly used antidepressant. Like other antidepressant, even it has few side effects, but these are not serious one. You can take this drug without any fear. Better to consult your psychiatrist for any doubt. In case, you need further help, you can ask.
Thanks
