Will Taking Minoxidil Topical Solution And Follihair Help In Hair Regrowth?
hello Sir i am 30 year old male, I am having slight hair fall and i can feel hair density reduction on my head. I consulted dermatologist and he prescribed Minoxidil Topical Solution 5%(Pilogro brand) along with Follihair. Is their any side effects of this prescription. Can my hair growth will increase?? please give me ur advice. Thanks.
You seem to have Androgenetic alopecia. In this type of alopecia, there is hair loss and hair thinning from the front and central part of the scalp. The anterior hair line may recede, gradually over the years.
Minoxidil is US FDA approved for this type of hair loss. In males a 5% strength is recommended to be used twice daily. Minoxidil is a vasodilator and is a non-specific hair growth promoter.
Follihair is a biotin supplement and may help in hair regrowth but it is not approved for androgenetic alopecia. The role of biotin in hair loss is not a well established one.
I would rather suggest addition of finasteride, which is approved for this type of hair loss. It prevents and reverses miniaturization of hair follicles by inhibiting the enzyme 5 alpha reductase present in hair follicle, which catalyses the conversion of testosterone to Dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is the main culprit in androgenetic alopecia.
Hope this helps Regards
