Will The Fumes Of Bleaching Powder Cause Sore Throat?
Hi, I washed my kitchen and dining room floors with straight bleach 2 days ago. I had the windows open and some fans going. The smell is still faint, but I now have a sore throat. I am wondering if there is something I can do to remove the effects of the bleach. Should I re-mop the floors with water, should I create more humidity in the air?
Thank you for your query. The fumes from the bleaching powder would definitely irritate your throat and cause mild throat congestion. The smell usually clears on its own and there isn't anything you can do after 2 days. for your throat a just salt water gargling for few days would help.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have soreness in throat after inhaling fumes of bleaching powder. Well the symptoms you mention in query occur due to allergic reaction due to volatile bleach contents , which can be poisonous sometimes. They can cause respiratory problem along with nervous problem which breathing problems and pain in chest and throat. You should take some fresh air and drink plenty of water and milk which will be helpful. Keep doors open and apply mist humidifier sin room. I would suggest you to consult doctor for proper examination without any delay and rule out condition like poisoning. Doctor may prescribe anti emetic drug , antihistamine , steroid injection , analgesic and ranitidine.
