Hi,
Dexona is a
steroid and its use is never recommended without prescription of a doctor as it has so many side effects, if taken without guidance and particularly for a long time. Weight gain is only a side effect of Dexona and it is never recommended for this indication under any circumstances.
Ciplactin is also, an antiallergic, usually used for treating allergic conditions. It generally results in weight gain due to its action of increasing appetite. Therefore, loss of appetite, is another indication for use of this drug. Though this drug has not been approved specifically for weight gain, but off label it is being used for weight gain.
Though, more or less it is a safe drug, but its efficacy as a weight gaining agent has not been quantified and hence I will advise you, to consult your doctor in this regards for investigating any cause of your low weight and if any cause is there, treatment done accordingly. Even if, you want to use this drug for weight gain, then it is always better to use under guidance of your doctor, particularly with reference to dosage and duration of its use.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
