Will The Vagina Expel The Condom On Its Own?

I'm 24 years old, 5'1 and about 100lbs. So, my boyfriend and I had sex yesterday and we noticed after we were done that the condom had broken. I checked up inside me to see if maybe a piece was still there, but I didn't feel anything. But today I started my period, and when I went to go change my pad I saw a piece of rubber in it. So I think I might have a piece of the condom still inside me. Should I be worried, or will my body expel it on its own? How could I check myself to see if there are still pieces inside? I really don't want to get some sort of infection from this. Also, I feel kinda weird calling my gyno for an exam about it because I just saw her yesterday for a different matter. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
