i am anu from chennai.i am using melacare for past three years.once i got allergy and it is resolved through a doctor.after that also i continued no side effectis there.recenly i got married and i was concieved.but while taking scan in 15 weeks i was informed that my baby has bilateral lymp cysts in neck and holes in chloroid pluxus.i aborted my baby now.whether melacare affect my baby?is melacare usage during pregnancy wrong? pls answer me
Thanks for your query. Even if used as an ointment, there is a cumulative absorption of the steroid in the blood.
Melacare contains mometasone- a steroid, which you have been using for the last three years. Prolonged use of steroids causes a hormonal imbalance in the body.
Steroids should not be used during pregnancy as they will cause deleterious effects on the fetus. Stop using it at least 2 months prior to planning next conception.
Do not forget to consult your Gynecologist who will guide you correctly before planning your next pregnancy.
