Hello,
You should continue to take all the prescribed medicines by your treating Surgeon for relieve of pain and soreness. You have history of sleeping disorder and PTSD for which you want to take medical marijuana. I can understand your concern. After
gallstone removal symptoms like
abdominal pain, bloating, nausea, and digestive issues continue for quite some time.
If you take medical marijuana, the above-mentioned symptoms may be triggered making you restless. It occurs due to
Cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome (CHS): In people who use marijuana repeated episodes of nausea,
vomiting and bloating and abdominal pain are seen to occur. Moreover, marijuana is addictive. It may relieve pain but apart from causing digestive issues it causes memory,
depression and many psychological problems.
Sleep disorder can be relieved by avoiding taking caffeine, alcohol & not taking naps in the afternoon. Stop working on computer and relax 2-3 hours before going to bed. Go to bed only when sleepy. To manage and alleviate PTSD, contact a psychotherapist for CBT, cognitive processing therapy and other tools of assistance like
massage therapy, aroma therapy, etc.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
