Wisdom Tooth Growth, Swelling Of Vein In Mouth, Have Paleness. Worry?
my bottom wisdom teeth have been growing on both sides for the past few years now. However on lift side for the past week what seems like a vien running from the back of my mouth where my wisdom tooth is growing to the front of my mouth is swollen more so closer to the wisdom tooth. I can't eat on my lift side because of the fact that I would bit on it, my teeth seem to be not lining up and it is now a very pale almost white in color. Should I be worried?
Wisdom tooth is last tooth to errupt in the oral cavity and is often tilted, impacted in the jaw bone.
This area is often difficult to clean and leads to food accumulation in the region leading to redness, inflammation of the overlying gums known as PERICORONITIS.
Difficulty in mouth opening is due to pain and swelling.
I would suggest you to visit to an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and get the checkup done.
Take an OPG radiograph, treatment of such tooth is extraction.
Take complete course of antibiotics and analgesics.
Maintain a good oral hygiene, use warm saline gargles, antiseptic mouthwash gargles twice daily.
wisdom tooth often errupts with pain, swelling, irritation and discomfort. i will suggest you to get an OPG done to see the orientation of wisdom tooth eruption it often errupts sideways instead of normal erupting path and interefere with adjacent tooth
sometimes wisdom tooth remains partially erupted with overlying gum become traumatized by occlusion, causing pain and discomfort
it might get inflamed,a condition known as pericoronitis ,resulting in pain and swelling
consult a dentist for evaluation meanwhile take ibrufen for pain, maintain good oral hygiene, gargle with saline water hope this will help
Wisdom tooth is the last tooth to erupt in the oral cavity and often its eruption is associated with symptoms like pain and discomfort in eating , difficulty in opening mouth , swelling in the jaws and cheek bite.
wisdom teeth are often tilted in position and impacted in the bone , gums overlying the tooth usually undergoes inflammation known as pericoronitis .
The tilted position of the tooth leads to entrapment of the cheek mucosa in between the teeth during biting.
Due to cheek bite , the mucosa gets inflammed and appear red or white due to trauma.
i would suggest you to go for symptomatic treatment at home like gargling with lukewarm saline water or antiseptic mouthwash like chlorhexidine or betadine.
You may need to get an OPG radiograph done for you which will show the exact position of the tooth, consult a dentist and get the tooth extracted surgically.
hello,
Thanks for writing in.
The pain and swelling is due the erupting wisdom tooth.
If all cusps of teeth or crown of tooth has completely erupted, nothing to worry.
If not, flap overlying tooth has to be removed to enhance tooth eruption.
Warm saline and betadine gargle will help to relieve pain.
Take analgesics and antibiotics after consulting with your dentist.
Rinse your mouth after every meals.
Avoid intake ofspicy/solid foods/
Hope this helps.
Hi,
Your problem seems to be Pericoronitis. You have to get and X ray called OPG taken to know the position of the third molar tooth. The x ray will show if the tooth is a favourable or unfavourable position. It is better you can get it surgically removed by an Oral Surgeon. For the mean while take warm saline gargle and analgesics for pain relief.
Hello dear
There is nothing tomworry about so much.Basically your wisdom tooth on left side seems to be impacted i.e. still inside bone and gums.So it will be better to consult a dentist , he will shoot an x ray and make it clear to you whether the wisdom tooth will come out or you will have to get it extracted. In the mean while start doing warm saline rinses , it will give you some relief.

After reading your history i would suggest you to see your dentist soon. This is not to scare you but to actually understand the condition of your wisdom teeth.
Very rarely the wisdom tooth comes in position, when adequate space is available in the arch.
More often, it gives pain and problem due to insufficient space in the arch.
An x ray can show you how it is placed in your mouth, vertically or horizontally.
There fore visit your dentist, get yourself examined and then start with suitable antibiotic and analgesics.
Meanwhile you can do warm saline rinses thrice daily.
Maintain oral hygiene to prevent further infection.
Hope it helps.
Thanks.
Take care.
